It was twenty years ago that a young Gordon Lye and David Wild opened the doors of Wild & Lye for business. They managed to find a spacious office on Bathwick Street that had, for many years, been used as a Greengrocers. Its large double-width frontage was ideal and there was plenty of space for a small estate agency to grow. In 1990 there were very few companies with offices in the suburbs but Gordon and David could see the advantages of a local agency. Residents of Bathwick, Widcombe and Bathampton were quick to support a dynamic new business and it was not long before Wild & Lye were selling property throughout Bath and surrounding villages. Jonathan Burnand, Wild & Lye’s senior valuer, has been with the firm for fourteen years and is well known in Bath for his expertise and professionalism. Whilst many other estate agencies have diversified into Lettings, Wild & Lye saw the benefit of having a furniture removal business. In 1996 the first lorry was acquired and in the intervening years the firm has grown into Bath’s largest independent removal company. A large storage depot in Keynsham followed which offers containerised storage in a secure environment. The removal and storage is a nationwide service available to everyone and not just those who have bought or sold property through Wild & Lye.
